A perfect time to begin the last leg of our journey ... leaving Virginia and heading to Atlanta, GA while the Full Blue Moon lights the sky.
We were very excited to be staying at a campground on Lake Lanier in Georgia, but it didn't quite work out the way we expected.
Not only did we dent the bumper of HITCH with the huge trees in the center of the street, but we were perched atop a wooded forest hill at the campground which was surrounded by a dense forest of trees .... our RV site was pretty dilapidated, with no area for relaxation or set up. We couldn't even get to the stairs to enter HITCH because they hung over a ridge on the hill.
When we returned we found another RV right next to us with a fire smoking up our rig and cars surrounding the area. They were ready to party ..... oh great!
That is what I was singing when I was trying to sleep with the disco light, bonfire, party going on! Finally at 4 a.m. the noise stopped - but, we had HAD IT.
Checked out and moved HITCH, and after cutting down tree branches at Michael's little farm house, we left HITCH there for the night and spent the day and night at Mark's instead of camping. Due to all of this, we cut our stay short by 2 days and focused on seeing the kids and grand kids and cancelled other visits with friends.
DAY 29 - Atlanta
DAY 30 ... Valdosta Overnight - (leg 7)
Even though we had to stay another night on the road before our last leg, this campground made it all worth it. Eagle's Roost RV Park in Valdosta was actually the BEST campground we had stayed at the entire time. Beautiful trees, but roomy, paved site, full hookup, friendly staff, easy access.

Day 31 - HOME - Leg 8
We were happy to get back to Florida, even though it was pouring rain ... but would miss the road. All in all, very glad we did what we did and especially grateful for seeing our sons and able to coordinate staying the night.
Finally home .... tired .... re-entering slowly ..... but felt a great sense of achievement with camping.
Think we are old pros now!
